Degrees & FYUGP Structure (NEP)

Under NEP’s FYUGP, students can exit after 3 years with a Bachelor’s or continue to Year-4 for a Bachelor’s with Research. Popular degrees: B.Des (Bachelor of Design), BFA (Fine Arts), BA Film/Media/Animation. After UG, students may pursue M.Des, MFA, MA (Film/Animation/Media) or specialised PG Diplomas (e.g., cinematography, interaction design, VFX).

Entrance Exams & Admissions

Portfolio: What Really Works

  • Show a process (research → sketches → iterations → final), not just pretty outcomes.
  • Include observational drawings, problem-solving projects, and one personal passion project.
  • Short case studies (1–2 pages each) for product/UX/service projects with user insights & test feedback.
  • Films/animation: 60–120s showreel; roles & tools used; link to full pieces.
  • Keep it clean (10–15 strong works). Host on PDF/Drive or a simple site; QR codes in the PDF are fine.

FAQs

Do I need Math or Science for Design/Film?

Not always; some product/industrial programs prefer physics/math basics. Most design/film/fine-arts courses emphasise creativity, drawing, and problem-solving.

What laptop/specs are ideal?

At least 16GB RAM, SSD storage, mid-to-high GPU for 3D/VFX, and a color-accurate display. Schools often publish recommended specs.

How important is the portfolio vs exam score?

Both matter. Entrance scores shortlist; portfolio + interview secure the seat. A clear process and original ideas carry more weight than polished finishes.

Is freelancing viable after graduation?

Yes—many mix internships, studio roles, and freelance projects. Build a niche (e.g., UX audits, color grading, product visualization) and keep a strong online presence.
